Forecast for increasing winds today and the Maze would have been perfect but we were reluctant to get the vans stuck again so the chosen location was Gott Bay but the other side this time.

Wind was very cross on from the right and I ventured out on bigger kit for the onshore conditions. Borrowed one of the clubs 2006 4.7m North Voodoos and rigged it on my RDM with carbon boom. The sail handled the power nicely but I was soon struggling to hold the board in the water. Changed down to the 70L for more control but this was temporary in the increasing winds.

After lunch I rigged my 4.1 and headed out for more punishment. The forecast was for nuclear winds tomorrow (last day) so the loop pot was odds on for today. But who wants to initiate loops in gusty onshore overpowered conditions? I saw one of the lads go for it and there was no turning back. The problem was my automatic safety system cut in every time I got near and I either baled out or got slammed. Eventually called it quits after catching the mast with my hand on one slamming. Good fun but a bit manic.
